How Core Collectables Began

Every great collection starts with a single item — and every business starts with a single idea. For Core Collectables, that idea was never just about cards or figures. It was about creating a home for all things geek culture — from collectibles and board games to merch, gifts, and more.

I’ve always been fascinated by the worlds of gaming, pop culture, and fandom. The thrill of opening a fresh pack of Pokémon cards, the excitement of a new board game night, or finding the perfect gift for a fellow fan — it’s not just about products, it’s about experiences and shared passions.

When I looked at the market, I saw two extremes: huge online retailers with endless choice but no personality, and small sellers with heart but limited range. I knew there was space for something in between — a store that combined the variety of a big retailer with the enthusiasm of a true fan.

That’s how Core Collectables took shape. The name came from the idea that every fan, gamer, or collector has their “core” — the things they truly love. Whether you’re into trading cards, tabletop adventures, or fandom-inspired gifts, we wanted to be the place you could always rely on to find something that excites you.

In the early days, it was all about laying the foundations:

  • Researching suppliers for trading cards, figures, and board games

  • Choosing merchandise and gifts that fans would be proud to own or give

  • Building a brand that instantly connects with the geek culture community

This is just the beginning. In the next chapter, I’ll share how Core Collectables went from a concept on paper to a fully registered business with a growing product range and a clear mission.
